Which fishing magnet do you choose? Size, set, and safe use
A fishing magnet is a large neodymium magnet that you lower into the water on a rope to retrieve metal objects from the bottom. With us, you get the magnet as a set including a rope, bolt, and carabiner, and for most sizes, an eye nut as well.
What should you look for?
- Size: a larger magnet is stronger and picks up heavier objects, but is also heavier to handle and pull out of the water.
- Rope length: the sets come with 16 to 25 m of rope. Choose a length that suits the depth of the water where you are fishing.
- Included set: most sets contain a rope, eye nut, bolt, and carabiner. The Ø75 x 25 mm set includes a rope, bolt, and carabiner.

Safe use
Fishing magnets are very powerful and will snap onto steel and each other with force. Keep your fingers and hands away, do not drop the magnet freely onto metal, and keep it away from pacemakers, electronics, and bank cards. Keep magnets out of reach of children. The holding force is not a safe working load: do not use the magnet to lift or carry heavy loads where a fall could cause injury. Check beforehand if magnet fishing is allowed at the location where you want to fish. If you find something that looks like ammunition or an explosive, do not touch it and notify the police.
