What do you use this magnet for?

Powerful: suitable for tools, cables, lamps and heavier objects in workshops and warehouses. The steel pot concentrates the magnetic force on the flat side, giving the magnet much more holding force on steel than the same magnet without a pot. You only achieve the full holding force when the magnet hangs from the underside of a thick steel beam or plate and is loaded straight downwards. On a vertical wall, the magnet will slide away at approx. 11 kg: about 15 to 20% of the holding force. Therefore, choose a much stronger magnet for a wall.

How much can I hang from it?

Hanging from a thick steel beam and loaded straight downwards, approx. 55 kg under ideal conditions. On a vertical steel wall, it will slide away at approx. 11 kg. In practice, allow a generous margin.

What surface does it hold on?

On flat, magnetic steel, such as a steel beam, cabinet or door. On thin sheet steel, paint, aluminium or most types of stainless steel, it holds much less or not at all.

Hook magnet or eye magnet?

It is the same pot with the same strength. With a hook, you can quickly hang something up and down; with an eye, you can attach a carabiner, rope or cable.

Can I hang a lamp or a plate above people from it?

Only if a fall cannot cause injury, or with additional safety equipment. The holding force is not a permitted working load; do not use a magnet as the sole attachment above people's heads.
