A schedule you can see and grasp works better for many people than a list in your head or on your phone. With a magnetic board and a few magnets, you can create a daily routine, weekly planner, or task board that you can adjust in a few seconds if the day doesn't go as planned.

Why visual planning works

If you can see what's coming today, you don't have to remember it all. That provides clarity and peace of mind. Many people with autism or ADHD use a visual schedule, but families, schools, care institutions, and teams also find it useful. Anyone who benefits from a clear structure will find it helpful.

The advantage of magnets: your schedule moves with you. An appointment changes? Slide the magnet a little. Finished a task? Move it to 'done'. You don't have to erase or rewrite anything.

Four ideas for your planning board

1. Daily routine board

Divide the board into morning, afternoon, and evening. Hang a card or pictogram for each part: waking up, breakfast, work or school, shopping, exercise, sleep. This way, you can see at a glance how the day looks.

2. Weekly planner for the whole family

Give everyone their own color. Red for one person, green for another. This way, you can immediately see who is exercising, working, or has an appointment when. With our colored magnets, you have four distinct colors.

3. Task board: to do, in progress, done

Create three columns on a whiteboard and move tasks from left to right. This works at home for chores, but also at the office or in the classroom. Moving a magnet to 'done' feels just as good as checking something off.

4. Making pictograms and photos magnetic

Do you use pictograms, photos, or cards? Stick a self-adhesive magnet or a piece of magnetic tape on the back. Laminate the cards first, so they last much longer.

Which magnets should you choose?

You want Choose
Colors per person or type of task Colored plastic-coated disc magnets Ø16 x 6 mm: red, yellow, green, and black, with a plastic layer that won't scratch the board
Make cards and pictograms magnetic Self-adhesive magnets or magnetic tape
Hang up paper, A4 sheets, or a weekly overview Memomagnets, which you can easily remove from the board again

A magnetic whiteboard, a steel cabinet door, or a wall painted with magnetic paint can all serve as a surface. On a thin steel board, magnets may not hold as strongly as stated; if in doubt, choose a larger size.

Tips for a pleasant planning board

  • Keep it simple. A few clear sections are better than a cluttered board.
  • Use colors consistently. Agree on what each color means and stick to it.
  • Give the board a fixed place where you will naturally see it, for example in the kitchen or by the front door.
  • Set it up together. A schedule you create together will be used more effectively.

Safe use

Neodymium magnets are strong and small. They are not toys and are not suitable for children under the age of 14. If a child swallows more than one magnet, the magnets can attract each other inside the body and cause serious injury. Do you use a planning board for or with children? Then hang it out of their reach and let an adult move the magnets. Check cards with magnets regularly: if a magnet has come loose, stick it back on or replace it. Keep magnets away from pacemakers, electronics, and bank cards.
