Neodymium rubber-coated cup magnet Ø31 x 6 mm, grade N40, steel cup with rubber coating, with M5 internal thread. Holding force approx. 13 kg.
Suitable for hanging light objects, displays, lighting, signs, and mounting in workshops and interior construction. The steel cup concentrates the magnetic force on the flat front surface, giving a cup magnet on steel much more holding force than the same magnet without a cup. The rubber coating protects the surface the magnet is placed against and provides grip, so it is less likely to slide. With the internal thread, you can screw the magnet onto a bolt or threaded stud, for example in a structure, display, or piece of furniture. Which cup magnet should you choose?
The holding force is measured under ideal conditions on a flat steel plate; in practice, the actual holding force is lower. Read how holding force is determined.
No, the rubber coating prevents scratches. Keep the rubber and the surface clean, however: sand or grit underneath can still cause scratches.
An M5 bolt or threaded stud. Prefer a protruding threaded stud? Then choose the rubber-coated Ø31 mm cup magnet with M5 threaded stud.
Approx. 13 kg, pulled perpendicularly from thick, flat steel. On thin sheet steel or a curved surface, it holds less. Thanks to the rubber, it holds better sideways than a bare magnet, but still only a fraction of the holding force.
Lift it by the edge so that air gets underneath. Pulling straight up requires the full holding force.
Yes. With an annual volume, we reserve stock and you can order on account with a purchase order. For a one-off larger order, volume discounts apply automatically. Business orders.
Ordered and paid for on working days before 16:00, it will be shipped the same working day if in stock. Free shipping within the Netherlands from €45. Consumers have a 30-day cooling-off period.
Magnets are not toys and should be kept out of reach of children. Keep strong magnets away from pacemakers, electronics, and bank cards. Powerful magnets can snap together or against metal with force; keep your fingers away.
According to the data provided by the manufacturer, this product complies with the European REACH Regulation.

Neodymium magnets are very powerful and can bounce off each other and/or iron objects at high speed. The force increases as the magnet gets larger, which also increases the risk of breakage. Two of the larger magnets in our range are powerful enough to break fingers or at least cause a few large blisters.
Therefore, wear work gloves and keep magnets away from children. Also, keep Neodymium (NdFeB) magnets at a safe distance from people with pacemakers. This also applies to electronic devices and payment cards.
Neodymium magnets are still the most powerful magnets available today. Our super-strong magnets also remain magnetic virtually indefinitely, provided they are not exposed to the maximum operating temperature or are used with opposite poles.
The letters and numbers in the material coding have the following meaning: The N stands for Neodymium, the subsequent digits indicate the maximum magnetic energy expressed in MgOe. If there are no further letters after this, the magnet can be used up to 80 degrees Celsius.
If there are still letters behind it, it can reach a higher temperature.
We indicate adhesive force in grams or kilograms because this appeals to more people than Newton. The indicated force is measured perpendicular to the magnet. The adhesive force is the force required to pull a smooth, flat steel object (ST37) at least 10 millimeters thick from the magnet in question.
This force quickly diminishes when, for example, there's a gap or layer of paint between the magnet and the object. Even half a millimeter can reduce the force by half. A steel alloy or a rough surface also significantly reduces the holding force.
As mentioned, the direction of the adhesive force is perpendicular to the magnet, but the shear force is much smaller and also depends on the friction between the magnet and the object.
