Het nieuwe pand van Magnetenspecialist aan de Spegelt in Nuenen

This year we moved from Eindhoven to Nuenen. Just a few kilometres, yet it felt like quite a journey: a new building, a new brand identity and a completely new webshop. Not everything went smoothly the first time. Did you run into any issues? Thank you for your patience. Now that everything is in place, we are incredibly proud of it.

Speaking of journeys: the magnets on our shelves have had a much longer journey behind them.

Your magnet is older than the Earth

The neodymium in a magnet was never made on Earth. It was created billions of years ago in the stars: half very slowly in old giant stars, the other half in an instant when two collapsed stars collided.

That stardust drifted through the universe until our solar system formed 4.6 billion years ago. And the Earth.

And it is not rare: there is more neodymium in the Earth's crust than lead. It is just rarely close enough together to be mined.

From stardust to race bib

You can now find this element from the stars everywhere: in innovative design, such as with the students and designers we helped again at Dutch Design Week this year, in machines and in 3D prints. And sometimes in something very simple: attaching your race bib without damaging your sports shirt.

For that purpose, we developed our own race bib magnets. No pins, no holes: you simply snap your race bib through the fabric. The magnet is completely enclosed, so sweat and rain stand no chance.

The final part of the journey

And so the circle is complete. The neodymium travelled billions of years through the universe, we a few kilometres to Nuenen. And the best part of the journey is the last one: from us to you.

Thank you for being part of it!

Warm regards,
Everyone at Magnetenspecialist
