Disc magnets (105)
Disc magnets are round neodymium magnets with high holding power in relation to their size. At Magnetenspecialist, you will find them from Ø2 to Ø80 mm, in grades N35 to N52. Each magnet listing includes its dimensions, grade, coating, and holding power, so you can quickly find the right size. In stock? We ship orders placed and paid for on business days before 16:00 on the same day.
Which disc magnet should you choose?
A magnet's holding power depends primarily on its diameter and thickness. Choose based on your application:
| Application | Suitable size | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Model making, sensors, small closures | Ø3 to Ø6 mm | Ø5 x 3 mm |
| Small hatches, small cabinet doors, displays | Ø8 to Ø12 mm | Ø10 x 3 mm |
| Lightweight applications without drilling or screwing | self-adhesive, Ø10 to Ø22 mm | Ø10 x 1 mm self-adhesive |
| Cabinet doors, furniture and interior construction, camper and caravan construction, exhibition stands and signs | Ø15 to Ø25 mm | Ø20 x 5 mm |
| Mechanical engineering, workshops, warehousing | Ø30 to Ø50 mm | Ø30 x 10 mm or Ø40 x 20 mm |
| Screwable industrial magnet | Ø60 and Ø80 mm with countersunk hole | Ø60 x 25 mm |

Special versions
In addition to standard nickel-plated disc magnets, we have versions for specific situations: self-adhesive magnets for sticking, epoxy-coated magnets for humid environments, plastic-coated magnets in color, and rubber-coated magnets that stay scratch-free on surfaces. Diametrically magnetized disc magnets have their poles on the round sides instead of the flat faces.
What information is provided for each disc magnet?
- Dimensions: diameter and thickness in millimeters
- Grade: N35 to N52. The number indicates the strength class; for the same size, a higher number is stronger. We sell N35 disc magnets only while supplies last; for most applications, we recommend N48 or higher.
- Coating: usually NiCuNi (nickel-copper-nickel), as well as epoxy and versions with rubber or plastic coating
- Holding power: in kilograms or grams, measured on a flat steel plate
- Maximum temperature: 80 °C for the standard versions
The holding power is measured under ideal conditions; in practice, the actual holding power is lower. Read how holding power is determined or view the difference between holding force, pulling force, and working load.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know if a magnet is strong enough?
Look at the holding power and be generous: choose a magnet with a holding power at least several times higher than the weight it needs to support, or use multiple magnets distributed over the surface. A rough, painted, or curved surface will reduce the holding power. The Magnet Advisor will calculate this for you.
Can I use disc magnets in jewelry?
Only when integrated, for example as a clasp in a piece of jewelry, and not against the skin. The NiCuNi coating contains nickel, which can cause a reaction if you have a nickel allergy.
What is the difference between self-adhesive and non-self-adhesive?
Self-adhesive disc magnets have an adhesive layer, allowing you to attach them without drilling or screws. For heavier loads, choose a non-self-adhesive size that you can glue in or build into your project.
Are disc magnets safe?
Magnets are not toys and should be kept out of reach of children. Keep them away from pacemakers, electronics, and bank cards. Larger magnets can snap together or against metal with great force; keep your fingers away.
When will my order be shipped?
